Lad Admit Thefts Harley Howell, 14
years old. is being held at the Frasler
home with a broken arm, awaiting a
hearing in the juvenile court for the
alleged theft of four milk bottles, con
taining $31 for the French and Bel
gium baby fund. The lad admitted steal
ing the bottles from the Pantages cigar
store, Woodard, Clarke & Co. Urug com
pany and a bakery between Second and
Third on Alder street. Harley Is award
of the juvenile court and had been de
tained at the Frazter home from Au
gust 15 to August 31 on another charge.
Salvation Army Drire In all coun
ttles outside of Multnomah the drive
for the national war service fund of
the Salvation .Army will open Sunday,
September 15, and close September 21.
As a prelude to this drive the pastors
throughout the state outside of Port
land are asked - to preach about the
work, of the Salvation Army or at
least to mention the drive for funds
at all the services on that day.
