This may seem rather queer to tho that have heard all recent reports tnat the crop was going to the bow-wows. but this Is not really the case. There is, to be sure, a great need of additional and heavy precipitation but that would only add to the present crop prospects. A good rainfall would mean that much of the spring wheat would fill better than If no additional showers; were available. Fact of the matter Is that walla Walla county is this year showing; its most wonderful crop. This should not be taken to mean In number of bush els produced per acre, but to tha total production. For about 17 years thera has never before been such a season. At least for that time the present Juno broke all records for amallness of rainfall. Up ln tha foothills the outlook for wheat Is normal. It la not a really big or amall crop; It la an average In dication per acre. In tha Eureka flat country that section which has c Se ated millionaires out of poor men, so to spea.k lh a financial way, there is some damage indicated to the crop, but I have never to date heard of a season when this waa not also true. The fact of tha matter Is that Eureka flat has a big acreage of wheat planted this fceason, and while the greatest per cent of It Is spring sowing, still the crop prospects ar really average onea. Fall Wheat on the flat really looka good. Little of It appears to ba damaged at this time, although the spring sowing will be somewhat shriv eled unless that wanted rain appears before long. Up toward Prescott tha outlook Is fully a normal one for wheat although naturally there is much disappoint ment among growers that the outlook is not even better. stock maret today, following President Wll- sixth and Stark streets.
