troops attacked again on the - north
east front of Verdun last night, con
centrating their efforts on trenches
near Caurlerrcs wood and Douaumont,
recaptured by the French in yester
day's fighting. The war office an
nounced today that the attacks were
repelled.
Berlin Keports Captures.
1 Berlin, March 6. (I. N. S.) (Vi
Fay ville Wireless.) During the month
of February German troops captured
4900 prisoners. 69 machine guns and
80 mine throwers, it was announced
today.

Thompson called the commission to
order, and Mr. Adams made the motion
that Mr. Benson be chosen permanent

When the commission took up the

in the highway department, Chairman
Benson announced that he was opposed.

oatlng ! engineer; W. J. Scofteld.
draughtsman; J. H. Scott and John
Skans, locating engineers; Pearl Davis
and D. P. Greninger, foreman and the
office stenographer.
The commission agreed to pay the
salaries of the present employes.under
the highway department from Febru
: ary 20, the day after the new law went
Into, effect, down to today.
The regular meeting time of the
, commission was fixed . for the first
Tuesday after the first Saturday in
each month.
A motion was. passed asking the
secretary of agriculture to extend the
tlm'e- from January 1 to May 1 In
which the state may make application
for cooperation in the construction of
forest roads.
A-noon recess was taken until this
afternoon.
