T. W. Froaser Dieav T. W. Prosser,
died this morning at his home, 73
Karl street. He is survived by his
wife, Mrs. Louise H. Prosser, and his
three daughters, Mrs. L. II. Scheft
ler, Miss Jessie and Miss Ruby Pros
ser. Mr. Prosser was 06 years of age,
a native of New York, and bad re
sided in Portland for the past ten
years. He was well known In Bat
tle Creek, Mich., and returned from
a business trip to that city a few
months ago. Funeral arrangements
will be made by J. P. Flnley& Son.
Death of Thomas 7. Cowan-
Thomas F. Cowan, who died at his
home, 674 East Madison street, this
morning, was 78 years of age and had
resided in Portland for the past 27
years. He Is survived by two sons
and one daughter, E. H. and Tom F.
Cowan and Mr. Frank de Parq. Fu
neral services will be held next Sat
urday from the residence at 2:30 p. m.,
and interment will be In Greenwood
cemetery. A. D. Kenworthy has charge
of the body.
Boy Missed, Found Asleep. While
police and relatives sought anxiously
for Fred Daly, six years old, laat
night, the lad was asleep under a
lounge In his home at 439 East
Twelfth street. City Physician F. J.
Zlegler was summoned by the frantic
relatives and he called the police ro
aid In the search. Fred's grandmother
found him curled up under the lounge.
Relatives learned that the boy had
been ridios on a Junk wagon and had
visions of kidnapping.
Aid society of the Emanuel Lutheran
Aid tiockty of the Tmanuel Lutheran
church, Nineteenth and Irving streets,
are to take a trip on the Columbia
river highway. This was decided at
the regular monthly meeting held t
the church yesterday afternoon. A
committee consisting of the president.
Mrs. Levin Lundquist and the treas
urer, Mrs. Herman Ilowklnaon, was
appointed to arrange the preliminary
details of the trip.
Organ. Society to Meet. The Pipe
Organ society of Immanuel Lutheran
church, Nineteenth and Irving streets,
will meet at the church tomorrow
evening for its monthly' session and
entertainment. After the business
session, a program of vocal and in
strumental music will be given. Miss
Lydla Anderson and Miss Thora Lind
strom will be hostesses. The public Is
invited.
Soft Drink Man Fined $175. James
Booras, proprietor of a pool hall and
soft drink establishment at 28 Sec
ond street, pleaded guilty to violating
the prohibition law yesterday and was
fined $175 by Judge Langguth. A
charge against James Bourapas. clerk
in Booras" establishment, was dis
missed by Deputy District Attorney
Richard Delch.
Dayvlll Banoner Bleat. Following
an illness of nine months at the Good
Samaritan hospital, E. 8tewart, a
well to do rancher of Dayvllle, Or.,
passed away last night. The cause of
his death was paralysis. He was
taken to the hospital October 1. His
widow survives. The body will be
shipped to Dayville for burial.

Sterling' Funeral Held. Funeral
services for David Sterling, who died
July 31, were held this morning at
Finley's chapel, Rev. J. D. Corby offi
ciating. Ir. Stuart McGuire sang
'Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." inter

tery. Mr. Sterling was 76 yearg, of
age at the time' of his death, and had
been a resident of Portland for over
18 years. He la survived by a daugh

of Edward N. Case at the Chambers

Sergeant Chalnat Brings Down Two,
Making His Total 11 at Eight Since
He Began Flights.
Paris, Aug., S. (U. P.) In air re
connaissance on the Somme front. Ser
geant Chalnat of the French flying
squad yesterday bagged two German
aeroplanes, making a total of eight so
far brought down by him. His exploit
was announced In an official state
ment. Another German aeroplane. It was
stated, was defeated In an air com
bat near Chauny.

The funeral services for Frank J.
Fellows, former Portland merchant,
were held this afternoon at the Port
land Crematorium at 8:30 p. m. Mr.
Fellows died at the home of his son.
Dr. Duane Fellows, at 1025 East Flan
ders street, Tuesday. Frank Fellows
was born In Minnesota In 1859. Twenty
years ago he came to Portland and
entered the grocery business. He
opened a store between Fifth and Sixth
on Washington street, and later moved
to Park and Oak street. He retired
from business about five years ago
and has since spent his time In Hood
