Miss Genevieve Thompson is being
welcomed home from her extended

their departure Tuesday for Pittsburg,
where Mr. Haseltine will attend the

ware convention. They will be gone a
month, passing most of their time in

Troop "A" cavalry, Oregon Na
tional Guard, through the president
of the troop club, Paul R. Dickenson,

Thursday, May 25. The parties given
by the .Cavalry troop in the past have
always: been successful and the oifl
cera and men of the troop are making
every endeavor to have tins event
equally enjoyable. Among the patrons
and patronesses who have promised
their support and presepce at the dance

General and Mrs. White, Colonel and
.Mrs. McLaughrin, the staff officers of
the guard and their wives and several

This will be the closing event of

Roseburg and Dr. Lee Arrlngton Wells
of Estacada, which will take place at
the home of the bride's parents In
Roseburg on June 6.
Miss Lllburn Is the only daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Lllburn and
has resided In Roseburg for the past
four years, the family formerly being
residents of Portland for many years.
She is exceedingly popular in the
younger social set of Roseburg, and
is an accomplished musician. She is
being quite extensively entertained in
honor of the coming event, and in her
departure from Roseburg will be
greatly missed.
Dr. Wells is a practicing dentist
now located at Estacada, where the
couple will make their home. Dr.
Wells' parents are well known resi
dents of Portland, where he and Mlas
Lllburn attended school together.
A large number of the ladies of the
Aid society of St. James' Lutheran
church met at the parsonage last
Thursday afternoon and perpetrated
their annual "surprise" on Mrs. Leas,
it being the anniversary of her birth
day. A musical program was Impro
vised land elaborate refreshments were
served by the ladies. In addition to
the hearty good cheer and well wishes
the ladles also left an Interesting
memento In the way of a substantial
purse.
The final danco of this Reason's
series of informal dancing parties
given by the Blackstone club has been
