The women of the Portland Fruit and Flower Mis&lon will give their annual tea and opening of tho Day nursery to the jbublio on May 18. This event is to give all who are interested in the nursery an opportunity to see how It is operated. AJ1 the members and their friends have been Invited to attend. Miss Harriet Jellison and all of the former presidents of the mission will receive the guests. A lit of the past presidents includes: Miag Clara Teal, Miss Adela Adams, Mlsd Lena Bickel, Mrs. Herbert Hoyt, Mrs. Thomas- Honeyman, Mlsa Mabel Grant, Mrs. E. H. Slocum were dinner hosts Friday night, aaks ing as additional guests, Mr. and Mrs. James A. Beckett, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hixon Reade and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Frank. Mrs. W, a Dinwiddle entertained at her charming home on , Portland Heights Friday afternoon at a large tea, which the gave in honor of her mother, Mrs. H. E. Starrett, who haa come from Chicago to make Portland her home, and her aunt, Mrs. M. E. Whltton. About 100 guests called to meet the honor guests. This is the first of a series of teas Mrs. Dinwiddle is planning, another similar affair be ing planned for next Friday afternoon. The drawing- room was unusually pret ty, decorated in clusters of the old fashioned wall flowers, the"' tones of which harmonised most artistically with the tones of the room. Bleeding hearts and forget-me,-nots graced the tea table and roses were, used in pro fusion about the other rooms. Mrs. D. A. Stanley gave a most enjoyable, though Informal, - tea Wednesday afternoon at" nejr home on King's Hill, . honoring ; Mrs. Alexander A. McDoneJi of 8t, Paul, a- former and most -popular ; Portland i matron. About 25 of Mrs. McDonell's most Intimate friends were present to greet her. Miss Cornelia Stanley assisted her mother In receiving. Mr. Mc Donell has now returned from the sound and he and Mrs. McDonell are at the Benson. Their visit in Portland will be of but of one more week's i duration. Thursday evening Mr. and Mrs. Victor Johnson were dinnerhosts in their honor and yesterday they left in company with Mr. and Mrs. James A. Dougherty, .Jd Mr. and Mrs. Guy. Taylor for the week-end at Gearhart Park where they will be at the Kinney cottage. . The Woman's Exchange annual re ports will be made tomorrow at the Exchange room on Fifth fctreet, in the afternoon, and all members ot the organization and others who ar inter ested In the work are Invited to attend. Mrs. M. E. Tea left Saturday for Corvallls, where she Is to be the guest for 10 days of Mrs. F. A. Helm. Honoring Miss Louise Bradley, Mrs. Frank Kerr gave an, informal tea Friday afternoon. Miss Bradley will be a bride oX the latter part of this month. An effective arrangement of the tulips and iris was used on tae tea table, over which Mrs. Samuel C. SCerr presided. The hostess was further assisted by Miss Mildren Nich ols Miss Jean Gray and Mrs. A. J. Bale. Bert C. Ball, who has been in the eastern states for several weeks past, will return about June 1 and will be accompanied by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Harvy Ball of Detroit. Mich., who will pass the summer here with Mr. and Mrs. BalL Mrs. Alice Benson Beach was a charming hostess at tea Tuesday aft ernoon, complimenting her sister, Mrs. Slgfrid Unander of New York, who is passing a few weeks in the city. About 100 guests called between 3 and 5 o'clock to greet the visitor. Both Mrs. Beach and Mrs. Unander are members of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority, and a bevy of their sorority sisters assisted. Presiding at the tea, table were Mrs. Ray Matson, Mrs. Louis Starr and Miss Mai Hi r sen. Assisting about the rooms were Mrs. George M. Davis, Mrs. j R. A. Leiter, Mrs. Walker Campbell, Mrs. Irving R. Stearns, Mrs. Berry Eastham, Miss Henrietta Lauer, Miss Lula Gutherie, and of the Gamma Phi Beta girls, the Misses Bertha Masters, Ruth Dunlway. Flo Killingsworth, Flora Dunham, and Marguerite Sheehy. The house was a bower of spring blossoms, dogwood and Scotch broom being used in the drawing-room and in the dining-room fragrant apple blos soms. The dainty pink-and-white color scheme was also carried out in all the appointments of the collation served. Wednesday afternoon Mrs. Louis M. Starr gave a luncheon in honor of Mrs. Unander, with covers for eight guests. The table was charmingly arranged in a color scheme of pink, with the baby gladiolus and Cecil Brunner roses cen tering the board, and corsage bouquets of old-fashioned flowers marking eack place. Two tables at bridge were ar ranged for the afternoon. In the drawing-room a decoration of purple iris and white stock was most effective. Those enjoying Mrs. Starr's hospital ity were Mrs. Unander, Mrs. Beach, Mrs. Claude Starr. Mrs. F. K. Plate. I Mrs. Walter Cook, Mrs. J. Valentine and Mrs. Walker Campbell. Wednesday evening Barge Leonard gave a dinner at his home in Irvlngton in compliment to the visitor, with Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Lansdowne assisting. Miss Hazel Weldler left Tuesday evening for Florence, Or., in "company with her brother-in-law, Edmund A. de Schwelnltz. who returned to the coast after passing a few days in Port land. Miss Weidler will spend two months with her sister, Mrs. de Schweinitz, who Is making her home at Florence, while her husband's work on the Jetty at the mouth of the Suis law river necessitates his being there. Mrs. Jarvis Webb, who -with her little son, has been visiting since March with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Campbell, Is planning to return to her home in Detroit, Mich., about June 1. Mr. Webb, who had planned to join his wife in a short visit In Portland before her return, is unable to leave at this time. Mrs. George Warren entertained Fri day afternoon with a luncheon honor ing Mrs. Robert P.
