Kffective May 1. rearrangement of
the operating department of the North
. Bank road will be made, according to
' General Manager C. O. Jenke. Mr.
. Jenks said today that thereafter th
line between Vancouver' and Bpokane
. and the Oregon Trunk will be operated
a' one division, while the Oregon Klec
trie. United Railways and the Astoria
division of the 8., P. & S. will be con
sidered a division.
.This will Involve the appointment of
an. ..additional superintendent, master
mechanic,' chief train dispatcher and
other operating officials for the Van
couver division. Mr, Jenks was not
, ready today to announce the personnel
. under the new arrangement, as the
, change will involve a considerable
shifting about of officials.
The new arrangement is, In fact. Mr.
, Jenks stated, a restoration of the sys
tem iti vogue prior to the retirement
of the late I", A. Brainard, who was
. 'superintendent of the Vancouver divi--slon.
It was not known at that time
..how long Mr. Bralnard's leave of ab
sence' would extend, and as an econom

land divisions were consolidated.
Following Mr. Bralnard's. death in
Arizona about a month ago, it appeared
that the whole system was too large to
be handled successfully as one.
The Portland; division, will be in
