Architect Folger Johnson
Allen Eaton to Speak,
and
Folger Johnson will give an illus
trated lecture this evening at the east
side library. Eleventh and Alder streets
on "The Architecture of the Home and
Its Landscape Setting." It will be fol
lowed by one on "Home Decoration" by
Allen Eaton. Both of these lectures
are given under the auspices of the Ore
gon chapter of the American Institute
of Architect and the extension depart
ment of the school of architecture of
, the University of Oregon. The general
subject of the aeries is "Home-

Heartbroken over the death of his
wife and baby, James J. Lawler of 715
Williams avenue, died early this morn
ing at the borne of his parents,; Mr.
and, Mrs. Edward Lawler, 300 Eugene
street.
Mr. Lawler was a baker by trade,
being employed by the Log Cabin Bak
ing company, lie leaves a small son.

His wife. Mrs. Marie Lawler, died
February 14, her new born baby fol
lowing a few weeks later. r -V
Funeral services will be held at 9
o'clock Monday morning from St.
Mary's church, Williams avenue and
Stanton street. Interment will be in
Mount Calvary cemetery. "

Setting House Aiire
Bootblack Charged With Burglarising
and Banting the Borne of George
Xagfora at 631 Second Street.
Frank Green, 19, a negro, was ar
rested last night by Detectives Pat
Maloney and Swennea, and held as
the man who set fire to ta borne of
George Langford. a contractor, at
831 Second street, about a week ago,
Langford returned home at a late
hour and found a fire in a bedroom
and the rooms ransacked.
A revolver found on Green was one
that had been stolen from the Lang
ford home. Green admits burglariz
lng the house, but denies that he set
fire to the place. He said he lit a
cigarette and threw the watch to one
side, but did not know that it had
started th fire.
Green, who is a bootblack, has been
in the rerorm school.

To Educate Mexican Children.
Douglas, Aria., March 31. (U. P.)
Governor P. Ellas Calles issued an
order today that every Mexican child
in Sonora must go to school. He will
leave Agua Trieta within a few days
to personally conduct the mobilization
of 300 war orphans. They will be
taken by special train to Hermosillo
and put into state schools.
Bagley Pleads Guilty; Sentenced.
Bakf r. Or., March 31. Asa Bagley.
Indicted top assaulting an 11-year-old
girl, who was arrested at Ogden, Utah,
and brought back here, pleaded
guilty and was sentenced to the peni
tentiary by. Judge Anderson. Length
of the sentence is as yet undetermined,
Bagley not pleading guilty to the exact
charge on which he was indicted.
Explosion Injures Watchman.
Seaside, Or., March 31. James Si-
girst, night watchman on a railway lo
comotive, was badly burned sbout the
face herel ast night when the boiler of
an engine on which he was stationed,
exploded. His injuries are not consid
ered fatal, but bis sight may be endan
gered. Yeomen Minstrels Travel.
