Joe Ila mant, who left, this city for Italy two yrars ago, returned to this city on Monday evening. While at his old home at Slraeusa, Plcila, Italy, he was married to a young lady of his old home town, who will come to Ore gon City at a later date. Many of Joe's relatives- are fighting for their country. Hiamant came to America on the steamer Patria, of the French Fnbra company, and says that on many occa sions while on the voyage the passen gers became fearful of the submarines of other foreign nations. Is tied up and surrounded by ice near the ferry landing. The river below the bridge construc tion works is comparatively free from floating Ice, all of which is lodged above the works. The ice moved quite rapidly yesterday and extended entire ly across the river.
