A carloav of enatern cranberries, the first
of the aeanon'a late Ilowea from New Jersey,
la due In the local trade and will be quoted
at $11 a barrel. orcgoa-Waalilngton cran
berries are quoted strung at $10. DO per barrel
for early varieties.
The local freh flab trade Is loaded with
dog'' aalmon. Some of it Is of extremely
good quality, while othera are very poor ami
really unfit for use. Stepa are being taken
by the city authorities to sAop the sale of
aalmon thrtt I unfit for food. Most of the
latter la caught In spawning stream ud are
Injured by the rocks in the creeks.

The market for onions Is showing a steady
tone with the Confederatisl association,
thfough Its sales agent. W. I. Swank. Mill
asking $1.2." per cental f. o. b. country points
for No. 1 stock. During the last two weeks
In October the association averaged better
than a car a day; a movement unusually fa
vorable for that month. The California market
Is in a bad way with prices lower. This con
dition Is said to be due principally to the
fact that the quility is exiretne'y sior and
that outalde shipments are practically impossible.

lln of Ceres, one of the few remaining hop
growera In thU county, says that from WOO
to 1800 bales of tbla season crop Is still
In the bands of the growers. Kleven hundred
bales of that amount are held by th Klnber
company. Several of the growers who have
so persistently cultivated and harvested their

Hog ruled weiker today at North Portland.
The last report available from the stockyards
at 1:35 this afternoon failed to show any
sales beyond $6.59 or a dune below the ex
treme figure of yesterday.
Most of the h-igs that came forward to
North Portland overnltrht were from Willam
ette valley point with onlj- a sprinkling of
interior offerings.
Swine market in general was quiet for the
day In the local yards. The market started
slow as during recent days, but there was
little change In the price situation over
night. F-astern market" showed further weakness
this morning with some quoting lower prices.

Last rites for A. J. Klnjrsley, presi
dent. of tho Oregon Chair company and
head of the Manufacturers' and Land
Products Show, were held this after
noon In Holnian's, chapel. The serv
ices were conducted by the Christian
Science church.
The pallbearers were M. A. Perry
of SL Helens, Frank. S. Doernbecher,
John F. Carroll. C. C. Colt. Ira F.
Powers, Paul C Bates, Frank S. Grant
and R. M. Davidson. Interment wu
in Rivcrview cemetery.
As mark of respect to Mr. Kinsley
the Orepon Chair company was closed
all day and the Manufacturers' and
Land Products Sihow was scheduled to
remain closed until after the funeral
at 3 o'clock.
Members of the manufacturers' and
industries' liureau of the Chamber of
Commerce, ol" which Mr. Klngsley was
chairman, attended the funeral in a
body.

The highest ""price ever offered for
city improvement bonds was received
this morning when bids were opened
for $25,867 worth of improvement and
street extension bonds. The high bid
waa made by Ladd & Tilton's bank for
the entire issue at a premium of 105.78
per cent.

Sense of Portland.
Queen Sibyl, who ruled over the des
tinies of the Rose Festival last June,
has won a new realm. Yesterday she
became Mrs. Mark J. Renne, at a cere
mony presided over by Circuit Judge
Morrow, a atanch member of the Wood
men of the World. Mr. Renne is lieu
tenant of the Arleta camp, W. O. V.,
drilteam, and her father is a promi
nent member of the same camp. Mrs.
Renne is also affiliated with the Wood
men through the Women of Woodcraft,
and it was these two lodges that raised
her to the festival royalty. Mr. Renne
is a card writer for Roberts Brothers.
Mrs. Renne is but 17 years of age. She
Is daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. R.
Baker.
