11 THE OREGON . DAILY JOURNAL, PORTLAND, MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 6, 1915. SOCK OF SALT E BEN' USED TO BEAT IN TO DEATH Two Bodies Found on Log ging Railroad Near Gold Bar Camp, Washington, Gold Bar, Wash.. Sept 6. (U. P.) Frank Pfelffer and Frank Murray are beinjr held aa witnesses today In con nection with the brutal murder Satur day night of Edward Pfelffer of Gold Bar, father of Frank Pfelffer. and Morlts Schneider, of Fort Wayne, Ind., brother-in-law of Edward Pfelffer. There are no clues as to who com mitted the double crime, nor of the ir. otlve. I'feiffer's body was found early Sun day morning by Jack St. Louis. It lay face down on the logging railroad of the Gold Bar Lumber company, half a mile from here. The fact that a sock filled with salt hung on a nearby tree leads to the belief that the roan's as sailant used it as a sandbag. Pfeiffers bead was crushed as though by a sharp Instrument. Schneider was found a quarter of a mile further up the road, near Pfelf fer1 s cabin. His heftd was mutilated beyond recognition, presumably by a piece of railroad iron. The murderer moved the body from where it first fell, as there is a large blood stain on the ground some distance from where the body was found. The fact that socks found In Frank Pfeif fer's bakery correspond to the one found filled with salt and that foot prints near where the crime was com mitted were the same as his. led to his arrest. Murray Is a friend of young Pfelffer' s. WT)n writing or calling on mdrertlsert, please mention The Journal. (Adv.) TRANSPORTATION SanFrancisco Los Angeles (Without Change sa Boats) The Big, 01 an.
