Battery A Will Give Bang.net.
Battery A, the oldest militia organiza
tion in Oregon, will celebrate its forty
ninth anniversary February 6 with a
banquet at the Commercial club. For
mer and present members are invited
to attend and it la promised that the
affair will be one of the best yet given
by the organization which is noted for
interesting anniversary gatherings.
Orange Will Hold Election. Russel

nual election Saturday evening. The

Two laborers Injured. While at
tempting to board an Oregon City In
terurban car at First and Washington
streets about 4:30 yesterday after
noon, Joseph Siriannia, aged 45, a la
borer, residing near Sellwood Gardens,
fell under the car and the trucks
passed over one foot. The member
was crushed, and he was taken to St.
Vincent's hospital. The limb was
not amputated. While scuffling with
some companions at 118 Russell street
yesterday afternoon, John Myzoh, a ;
laborer or 616 Mississippi avenue.

cross complaint alleging cruelty Cath

vorce yesterday by Circuit Judge Kav-

Thomas J. Elliott Sought. Mrs,

Stolen Auto Becovered. Tools and
gasoline were the only losses eus
tained by John V. Relsacher, former
postmaster or Condon. Or.. In the
theft of his automobile from Sixth ,
and Yamhill streets yesterday noon. ,
The car was located about 2 o'clock
this morning by the police near the
Armory. The speedometer showed it
had been driven 100 miles.

BRIDGE SESSION PLANNED
On receipt of a telegram from Har
rington, Howard & Ash, engineers of
the interstate bridge, that E. E. How
ard would leave Kansas City December
26, and would probabty reach Portland
next Tuesday, County Commissioner
Holman, as chairman of the bridge
commission, notified Governor West
that a meeting of the commission will
De held December 30 at 2 o'clock if
convenient. The telegram said that

Farm Home Burned.
Chehalis, Wrash.,j Dec. 23. The farm
home of John H.j Gardner on Crego
Hill, six miles southwest of Chehalis.
burned yesterday j while Gardner was
after his mail at a rural box a short
distance away. The Edward Yates
farm home, five miles southeast of
Chehalis, that burned two weeks ago,
is being rebuilt around the fireplace
and chimney of the old home.

Father Waitt was entered in the
contest by the ladies of St. Stephens
parish, and among his aides are the
Women's Catholic Order of Foresters,,
and the Junior Foresters. Father
Waitt is a member of the local lodge
of the Loyal Order of Moose, and of
the Portland Motorboat club'. He has
been in Portland 13 years.

ROTARY CLUB CELEBRATES
The Rotary club enjoyed its "Christ
mas" yesterday in the Hotel Benson.
The wives and sisters of the ir.embets
attended. Stunts, music and gift dis
tributions were successfully pro
gramed. Each one brought a present
for the children at Frazer Detention
home, a heap of some 300 packages
accumulating at the head of the i
tstairs. where D. L. Williams, a mem
ber of the club who weighs 300 j
pounds, saw that no one got by with- j
out adding to the number. Not one I
but five Santa Clauses appeared.
