Shows Profit for the Year. BaJern, Or., Oct. 14. According to the annual report of tlie Oregon Elec tric railway, which haa juat been filed with tt state railroad commlMtion, the road showed a deficit of $54,301.60 wben the year ended June 30. How ever, It bad a surplus of $040,824.70 at the beginning of the year and so the aurplua at the clone wm $605, SIT. 08. Koad and equipment and gen eral expenditures totaled $13,027,142, which la $84,296 per mil,- of line. The revenue during the year totaled $1, 111,804.13 and the expenses $804,636.70. There was a miscellaneous income of $5512.67. Reductions from income In cluded $56,033.36 paid as taxes, and In terest on the funded debt totaled $100,000, while Interest on the un funded debt reached $263,935.14. The net loss In the operation of the road was $42,301.50 and a dividend of 6 per cant was declared, making the deficit $64, 30$. 60. The company has 164 60 tntles of road and oporates over 1.72 miles 'of the line of the United Rail ways. Th ratio of operating expenses to operating revenue was 68. 08 per cent The United Railways also operated t a Ions during the year ending June 30, 1914, according to its report, the total net operating deficit bins $S2. $40. The company operates 33.72 miles In Oregon and Its road and equipment 1 figured at $6,241,339, the total cost per mile be'lnjr $1, 52f). The revenue for the year reached $123,353 and ex renses were $205,693. The ratio of operating expenses to operating rev tnues ws 11.75. The capitalization per mile of the I'ompany Is $112,074. The Oregon Trunk line, another Hill feeder, 158.91 miles in length, with capital stock of $ 1 0,no.o00, shows an Investment of $16,273.90, which Is $10X,6S0 per mile. Burglars Get Nothing. The residence of Ralph W. :oyt, at St. Clair and Main streets, was en tered by burglars Sunday evening and ransacked from garret to cellar. No one was in the house at the time. Roseburg, Or., Oct. 14. Arrested at Glendale on a charge of selling intox icating liquors to minors, John Hanks, a saloonkeeper there, waived prelimin ary examination when arraigned in the justice court here and la being held under $100 bail to appear before the grand Jury.
