'score was '.'-all. as the tennis .oiks
nay. OHcar Jones, the newest and
' pr' bshly the oldest Colt, was on the
receiving end of the beating, and
from the antics of Osnle there waa
more "N" than "ye" in the facial
adornment of the Victoria makeshift
umpire, who called a couple of walks
on the vet in the seventh and gave
thy visitors a chance to win out on
Lumh'a pinch hit.
Carnev had ulna-led arid Driscoll
sacrificed In the fifth, when Sinister,
m.indlng behind the plate, was seen
to topple over tiack wards In a faint.

Prep Pitcher would Have Scored Enut
ont on High Schoolers but for
Bloch's Error.
I Was the Jefferson high school base
j ball team, champions of the Interschol
!S31 -astlc league of the 1913 season, a vlc-
g i tim of the unlucky thirteenth "jinx"
I yesterday? It appeared that way to a
! majority of the blue and gold sup
porters who saw their team go down to
an 11 to 2 defeat at the hands of the
Columbia University team. The blue
and gold team played like a 'bunch of
sand lotters in the field, being charged
with seven errors and they were -unable
to connect with the slants of Pitcher
Rlggs of Columbia at the right time.
Yesterday's victory over Jefferson is
the first one Columbia has won in a
number of seasons, and it gives the
peninsula players a cinch hold Of the
title for the 1314 season. This Is the
first time Columbia has won the cham
pionship since 1908
