COUNTY. COURT NEWS
1 O. McKenney and W. 8. McKenney
were, cited to appear before the eounty
commissioners May 1 to show cause
why they should not support or con
tribute to the aupport of their father,
W. II. McKenney, an aged pauper.
Miaa E. D. Muhs, superintendent of
the Multnomah farm, waa directed to
turn over to Mary C. Wella the per
sona effects of William Fitzgerald,
who died at the farm April 22, and
who was indebted to her for money
loaned.
H. V. Hanson foreman of division 2,
road district 1, was directed to pros
pect for roclc on the Sprlngvale road
and report to the board that it may
be determined whether the Skyline
boulevard can be redressed from where
(he rock road now ends to the Spring
vale road and along that road to the
county line.
Superintendent of Ferries Murnane
was ordered to uperv4ae for the county
changes in the west approach to the
ferry Webster to be made by the dock
commission. Captain Robertson, 'of the
ferry, reported that- he has not time
for -the work. The dock commission
submitted blue prints of the changes
authorised which were referred to
Murnane.
The O.-W. " R. & N. company sub
mitted an agreement for leasing of a
trip of land 30 by 150 feet at On
eonta for a road camp which was re
ferred to Assistant Roadmaster Mc
Mnllen for recommendations.
District Attorney Evans advised the
.board to have a separate agreement
with O. E. Helnti regarding a guar
antee of workmanship and materials
used In the erection of the steel work
Of the courthouse as the agreement of
settlement between Heintz and the
eounty would otherwise release Heintz
from all claims by the county. His
letter was referred to county Audi
tor Martin for action.

Salem, Or.. April 30. Citizens of
Maplewood have petitioned the railroad
commission to require the Oregon
Electric to open a street to the new
depot at that place or resume service
on; the line through Maplewood, which
has been abandoned. A change In the
line was made at that place In order
to straighten the track, and the depot
at Maplewood has been moved about
1000 feet away.

cent correspondent who signed herself
"A Heartsick Wife" and who asked
. why it seemed impossible for her hus
band, a reliable, industrious man,
killed in machine woodworking, to get
employment in this city. The man
has been out of work for many
months and both have been in distress
for the lack of necessities. He is
willing to do anything. The name and
address will be furnished anyone who
may have employment for him.
