The Christmas card fancifully !
shaped, gaily colored and significantly '
lettered, bearing everything from tho '
two magic words, "Merry Christmas". to
verses breathing the tenderest senti- :
ment has -been a "part of civlllzatton"
for hundreds of years. j
Tbe simple bit of pasteboard of early 1
days has evolved itself into something
really beautiful, and this season " Ra
phael Tuck & Bon have brought out
cards, folders, Christmas stationery,
booklets, etc., that are nothing short
of genuine works of art bits of ex
quisite color and holiday verse that
cannot fail to be appreciated by any
one fortunate enough to receive one of
them.
Calendars whloh have long been a
strong point with the Raphael Tuck
company, are this year more beautiful
than ever. An especially pretty one
la based on Longfellow's "Children's
Hour." and for each month of the
year there Is a verse from this beloved
poom and a picture of a beautiful child.
Another, "My Aln Fireside," contains
verses from Bobble Burns and beau
tifully colored reproductions from
paintings of Scotch studies. Then there
are Tennyson and Wordsworth calen
dars, and one showing reproductions
from the ld masters. n
Most attractive to the littlfcf people
arei some of the gaily colored volumes
of children's stories, together with
"cut-out" pictures of various kinds.
Father Tuck's Annual, a substantial
volume, done In colors, would delight
the heart of any child. Art and Ingen
uity have combined their best efforts
in producing dainty cards and folders
as Christmss reminders. They range
from the simple, Inexpensive postcard
to superb studies bound In vellum.
Cbrlstmas stationery, which Is one of
the comparatively new things In holi
day greetings, Is to be had in great
variety and chaste beauty from the
Raphael Tuck stock. The Christmas
tags, stickers, eto put' out by this
firm are much sought because they are
"different"
