Tomorrow will be especially fea- Ttttred by-the preaching by all pastors on the topic of ReliRious Education and the ' Visitation of all Presbyterian mmaay '"School by representatives of the Pres byterian Sunday school board. Many prominent workers are connect ed with this movement, amons them being Rev. A. M. Williams, district edu cational superintendent for the Presby terian hoard of Sunday schoels. who is at the head of the week's work; Rev. J. : V. MilllRan, synodical superintendent; Ttev. C. W. Hayes. Presbyterian Sunday school missionary; O. J. Uowmanr pas tor's assistant of (he First Presbyterlfti church, and Rev. J. H. Matthews, super intendent for Washington for the Con gregational Sunday school board. Itev. Mr. Matthews will visit as many of the churches of Portland tomorrow as the time will permit and will take a leading Prt in the work next week. On Monday, the pastors and Sunday school superintendents will huve a ! luncheon and hold a conference at Cal vary church at Eleventh and Clay street at ( o'elutk. From Tuesday to Friday, conferences with workers In all Presbyterian churches will be conducted by rep- rosentatlves of the board and the - Presbytery, and on Sunday, Sep tember 18, a Rally day celebration, will be held by all Presbyterian Funriay schools In the city at the' First Presbyterian church at 3 o'clock. This meeting will be addressed by Mayor 11. R. Albee, Rev. J. II. Boyd and Rev. A. M. Williams. The object of this meeting Is to bring about the adoption of the same standard for every Sunday school. "The purpose of a Sunday school standard is two fold: It furnishes the school with a means for measurement of Its effort from time to time, that It may note its progress; thus once a year rSe Presbytery through its committee "measures' the work of every school and reports the same to the board, and the board in turn to the general assembly. A standard is also a goal to be attained. A study of the standard will reveal the fact that It is so constructed as to be possible of attainment in a degree by the small school, and that its points are so worded as to demand educational development of those thoroughly grad ed schools of the church," said District Educational Superintendent Alfred M. Williams. "To assist pastors and superintendents Iq 'planning their work and working their plan,' a bulletin will be sent out - from -this office from time to time on the general activities of the Sunday school-- Its suggestions will huve to be adapted. It will only point the way. - Its suggestions will be timed according to the seasons, the church year and the orders of general assembly. Sep tember should always be made 'Rally Month' In the growing Sunday school. October will be 'Organization Month," in which all the new departures of the year wilTbe ejarted, the "points' of the stand- j ard brought up to standard and the Sun-: day school 'machine' completely 'over-! hauled.' November and December will be Home nnd Foreign Missions Months, respectively, with Thanksgiving flavor In one and a Christmas touch on the other. January in every school should - bp 'm ade- 'fiqipment MontliWtmtll every Sunday school In the church shall have quarters, blackboards, maps, charts, workers' libraries, etc. all adequate to the task. February should be 'Evange listic Month.' March might be well made PROGRAM FOR SUNDAY SERVICES AS ANNOUNCED BY THE " First White Tempi.-. W. IV, Hlnixin end T. A. Afar.'i!iiiarr- Bible fr&fl ;!.
