FOR THE PUBLIC
New Formula Cures Coughs, Colds,
Bronchitis and Hoarseness
in Five Hours.
Much is being done in these days to
stop the ravages of consumption, but
probably nothing has been so effective
as teaching the public how . to break up
a cold and cure coughs, bronchitis, ton
silllls, etc.. . with simple home-mixed
medicine. A laxative cough syrup, fne
from whiskey, is the prime need. A
cough indicates inflammation and con
gestion and these in turn are due to
an excess of Waste and poison in the
system. A tonic . laxative . cough
syrup rids the system of congestion,
while relieving the painful coughing.
Get the following and mix at home:
One-half ounce fluid wild cherry bark,
one ounce compound essence carJiol
and three ounces syrup white pine com
pound. Shake the bottle and take
twenty drops every half hour for four
hours. Then one-half to one teaspoon
ful three or four times dally. Qiv
children less, according to age. 'Cut
this out and save It for some friend. -
Was tlie experience of Mr.
I. Kohnt after years of ail
ing. The great value of
Duffy's Pure Malt Whiskey
is that it not only relieves
but it builds up and strength
ens the entire digestive and
nervous systems. ""f
'"."For years I ailed with a
nervous, trouble which keot
growing worse'. At times I had
terrible dizzy spells. I read so
much of what Duffy's had done
that I finally decided I would
try it. A marked improvement
was shown , at once, which
continued steadily I have now
been using Duffy's for eight
years and it has done me much
good." Mr. I. ' Kohnt, 433

.clause hue met In1 the BuU Moose hill;
at It Is popularly called, senate bill 268,
which, provides a means of puttlng'the
Progressive party on the primary bal
lot. Just now, it Is out, but there is
some talk of putting It back in again.
The bill was Introduced in the sen
ste and was printed7 without the emerg
ency clause. " The senate Judiciary
committee tacked it' on, so that the
Progressives of Portland might be en
abled to nominated Candidate for may
or at the primaries In May.' , In the
house the bill went into tha revision
1 of laws committee, and the emergency
ciause was stricken out. It Is now
waiting third reading in that form.
If the house passes the bill In, that
form, ll will be up to the senate to
concur or to refuse to: concur In the
house amendment. . If . the senate In
sists," it Is altogether probable that the
house will recede, as the emergency
clause was, dispensed with largely be
cause of a general prejudice against it
rather than because of any particular
desire .to shut the , Progressive party
out of the privilege of nominating Its
candidates for the city election In Port
land by the primary method.
," Another Progressive party measure,
the bill providing for election of na
tional committeemen at the primaries,
has been favorably reported by. the elec.
