Ing. Dr. Edward W. Stitt, district su

but entirely about practical training. ;
He said the time Is at hand when

"It is the education of the older ones
more than the younger that concerns us
mid concerns you," said the eduoator.
Then he gave Portland some pointers out

elections, .
"There1 was an election in one'of,the

Dr. Stitt says the educational plan
for newcomers In New York Is to bring

In an address before the teachers of
Portland this afternoon. Dr. Btltt said
he would use this sentence: . ;
"In the model school of the future the
following advantages will, greatly re

plenty of blackboards,, adjustable and
movable furniture, and, above all, effi

Froebel, the common sense of a Horace
Mann, and the social service of a Jane

Dr. Stitt will deliver an illustrated
lecture, free, at the Lincoln High school
at 8 o'clock this evening, t , It was not
known until late yesterday afternoon
that It would be possible to Induce Dr.

enough to give this public lecture. At
a meeting of the school board, late yes
terday It was decided that an oppor

noted expert should not be overlooked.
The lecture will be on 'The Wider Use

Fine . Laxative.
It Is often difficult to tell Just what Is
the matter with, a crying, peevish baby
or child too young to express its feel
ings In words, but as a general rule the
mother will find that there. is a ten
dency to constipation, which has brought
on a headache or nervousness. - The little
one has no pain, but feels "out of aorta."
The first thins to try Is a family rem.
edy containing good but mild laxative
properties,, and many mothers will say
that their chqico would . be Dr. Cald
well's Syrup Pepsin. ; Thousands of
mothers keep it in the bouSe- for -such
emergencies,-among whom may be men
tloned Mrs. Jennl Marmot. , Altnmont
111., who began to give her baby, Fred-'
ericK, Syrup Pepsin when he was 6
months old, and has used it ever since
with gratifying results. She writes that
Frederick . was not growing: .well and
tnrew up his rood, but after a few days
una of Syrup Pepsin he was able to re
tain bis food and gained ' rapidly in
weight. Thousands of others are glad
to say that Syrup Pepsin 'saved them
many an Illness and many a largo doc
tor, bill, for by administering it prompt
ly, when the first symptoms of Illness
were noticed, they prevented a serious
ailment.
It Is so pleasant-tasting that no child
will refuse it, and as.lt does not gripe,
tne cniia .ia glad to take It again. , A
bottle can be obtained of any druggist

'Syrup Pepsin la for all the family
from infancy to old age, and becauso of
Its mildness families should prefer it
over all other remedies. It Is absolutely
safe and reliable. You will never again
give cathartics, pills, salts or such, harsh
physics, for they are usually unneces
sary, and in the caae of children, women
and elderly people are a great shock to
the system and hence should be avoided.
If no member of your family has over
used Syrup Pepsin and you would like
to make a personal trial of it before
buying it in the rbgular way of a drug
gist, send your address a postal will do
to Dr. W. B. Caldwell, 417 Washington
