murder against Prettie Dick Son-a-wah

terday. Prettie Dick "was arrested De
cember-29, charged with the brutal
murder of Bob Charley, an Indian resi
dent ef the historic Indian village at
the lower Tumwater falls.
The murder occurred on the night oi
December 19, but was not reported to
the authorities until a week later.' The
Indian's body was hacked Into pieces
with an axe and his home burned by
three masked Indians.

Grant, 88 years old, pioneer of Oregon,
died at her home near Kings Valley, in
Polk, county. January 8. Mrs. Grant
county, Kentucky. In 1129 she moved
with her parents to Clay county, Mis
souri, where later she met and married
R. J. Grant In 1845. ,
