7:30 o'clock this morning between C.
Grammar and A. L. Mills, two colored
men employed by the Oregon Indepen
dent Paving company, at Thirtieth and
Hawthorne avenue, Grammer was given
a severe stab in the abdomen. The man
was taken to the St. Vincent hospital
in the Red Cross ambulance, his Injuries
being pronounced serious. Mills , es
caped at the time, going to' his home at
Twelfth and Johnson where, he was
caught at 10:30 o'clock by Detectives
Tichenor find Abbot. He said the
trouble started over tools both claimed.

last month's salaries were garnisheed.

tee cared to listen to. "It looks like we
will have to hear a lot of hard luck

ments is to establish a city loan fund
for the benefit of needy employes."

Schluisel Sues for $60,000 Damages
of $60,000 are claimed by Mark Schlussel
because he was sent to the insane asy
lum on September 11 and kept there 11
days. He has filed suit for that amount
in the circuit court against Drs. S. K.
Josephi, B. F. Smith and E. D. John
son, alienists, who examined him and
declared him Insane. Schlussel declares
he was never Insane and that $10,000 of
