sick's body was found, the gas tube still

she would get from him.

EASTERN OREGON TRIP
Dr. Harry Lane, Democratic nominee
for United States senator, has returned
from a trip to eaterii Orcgoni where
he was splendidly received and wan
given much encouragement in his cau
didacy to succeed "Senator Bourne.
Dr. Lane's satisfaction over his own
prospects is only equalled by his en-
musiasm lor tne eastern Oregon wheat
crop. He kus the wheat was never
better, and the great fields of close set
grain are forecasting good times for
the farmers.
Dr. I.ane spoke on l.'matiila county
pioneers' day at V.'ecton and again at
. a strawberry festival at Milton, lie
.also viBlted Pendleton, Hot Lake, La
Grande and Union. At Hot Lake he
-ves the giifst of Walter Hi. Pierce, one
of his rivals in the primary campaign,
and Mr. Pierce, to shov his hearty sup
port of tl; 1 nominee, accompanied Dr.
Lane to Union and spent a day with
him there.
The lmi'c ratio candidate will be in
Portland all of Rose festival week, and
hl active campaign for t.. 1 enatorsh!p
will not begin until after the national
fonrefiilons have been held. He has
