Biggest Apple Crop. - '
Walla Walla.- Wash.. Mav 21. The
apple crop In the Touchet valley thl
year will far surpass any crop ever
before harvested unless some unforseen
damage occurs to tha orchards. As- the
frost daneer is entirely cast', and as
practically all orchards In that district
are, free from disease a bumper crop -Is
almost certain. The Pomona orchard,
the- largest in the valley, will bear from
20,000 to 25,000 boxes of apples, ac
cording to C. F. Schiltz, tha owner, who
states that If all apples now on the
trees were allowed to mature the crop
would be several times as large as
the one ho expects to see harvested.
It is stated by prominent fruit men
throughout this part of the northwest
that as much wltl be spent by the grow
ers this season for thinning the fruit
