WOMEN
DUG UP AT CAMP
(Continued from Page One.)
they expected to go Into the oil region
in the desert. Baurvaerts admits writ
Inc thin note. '
Tho Belgian went by. the name of
Guyot here and In the mountains. lie
said the old woman : was his mother
and that tho girl was Ills wife. He is
believed by the sheriff to be a degen
erate and an examination of the bodies
may reveal a motive for the crime,
Putnam, the old prospector who tele-iri-nnhpd
to the authorities that he saw
Baurvaerts burying the bodies, trailed
the Beiitlan 30 miles over the desert
ot,nn fnnd or water. Baurvaerts
capture was made by, a mere boy, the
inn - of Anuir Prultt. special Southern
Pacific officer. Pruitt had been notified
by wire by Putnam to be on the look
out for liuurvaerts. The boy saw" -two
men trying to climb on the brakebeams
nf "southbound overland Southern Pa-
clftc train. Believing one of-.them the
murderer, he took after them In the
dark, arresting. Baurvaerts and taking
two revolvers away from him.
Baurvaerts had $110 In his purse. He
had burnid all of the women's papers
and letters. ;
Af.cordln to his Jailors, Eaurvaerts
at times appears irrational.
