While as a rule there is little. differ
ence in the price between this grade and
something not quite so heavy, -the call
from the north Is an Insistent one and
price cuts absolutely no consideration.

Wash.. were sold at $6.60 in the North
Portland yards, today. The Btock was
rather heavy and of 'inusual good fin

The cattle market generally Is In rood
condition. Only a handful of supplies
came forwitrd to North Portland pens
this morning owing to the delayed cat
tie trains. Th regular North Bank
train has been held up on account of a
slide while the O.-w. R. A- N. stock
train did not come forward on time.
The latter is due to arrive this after
noon but the stock will probably be too
late for this afternoon's trading.
- G-ood Shipments Ara Due.
Very liberal shipments are expected
from eastern Oregon and Idaho polnta
on the afternoon train, but the trade .to
in an excellent condition to take care
of it.
At Chicago the cattle market was
strong with an advance of 10c being
generally quoted by the trade. Run, for
the day was 15,000 head.
- Kansas -City cattle market was show
ing a run of 4000 head tor the day, with

South Omaha likewise maintained a
good demand for cattle during the day.
Market closed at an advance of 10c over
yesterday with offerings of 4500 head.

the Only Supplies Available and
These Will Soon Be Started to
Market From Clovcrdale.
OMy about 100 cases of fresh Tilla
mook cheese are today available for the
wants of the entire Pacific coast at this
time, according to Carl Haberlac. manager-
of the- Tillamook 1 Cooperative
Cheese Makers association. Mr. Haber
lac was In the city for a few minutes
yesterday en route to Loa Angeles on
business.
T only cheese now available for the
mark? t is held by Charles Rav. the well
known maker of Tillamook, whosd main
plant is at Cloverdale, where the sup
plies are held. This stock will be hauled
to Tillamook by team and then Khkined
y.xail -t this city, in an effort to re
lieve me shortage ror a while. As a
rule, shipments from Cloverdale are
made by a gasoline boat owned by Mr.
Ray. - ....

a pound for fiats at. Tillamook, but so

day. A sale of yearling wool wethers

At Chicago there-was a-steady tone

sheep, with no change in prices. Run
was 8000 head.
South Qmaha had a steady tone for
mutton today with 5000 head available.
Top lamba sold at $6.15,, yearlings $5.35,
wethers $4.25 and ewes $3.75. ,

CASE IS UNCOVERED
. In the arrest early yesterday morning,
by Patrolman Mall on, of Marguerite Mc
Crary and Roy W. Hill on 0 vagrancy
charge, an alleged white slave case of
considerable moment was uncovered by
the police' and resulted in the arrest last
night of Nick Raftls and John Koros,
proprietors of the. Burnside rooming
house, Second and Burnside streets, who
are being held for the government. -
Pearl Johnson and Ruby Hoffman,'
inmates of the house, were also held
as witnesses-in the case.
Yesterday' morning Roy W. Hill was
sentenced to six months on the rock
pile by Judge Tazwell .for alleged white,
slave charges In connection with the
McCrary woman.
