some little comment as to what re

A. Bensell, a well known old time
railroad lobbyist before the legislature;
John Fogarty, whose son-in-law owns

- Mr. Bensell went on to state that If
tha rates were lowered the summer ex

the people of Newport did not want
changed. If this special rate were taken
off. Newport would suffer slightly the
first year, but the whole county would
enjoy the lower regular rate, '!' This
brings out .the fact that none of the
way station, which cannot buy return
tourist stubs as at Newport, were rep
resented,, though, reports from Toledo
and other points lead one to believe
that they are emphatically in favor. of
the reduction. Anyway, it Is considered
highly inprobable that this special rata
would be taken off In tha event that tha
regular rate was lowered. . ' '.;
The statements of Mr. Bensell and
Mr. Wygant also showed that the tall
road right now. carries most of tha
traffic at the special 1 cent rate. Mr.
Bensell said all Newport people travel
out on the unused stubs and Mr. Wy
gant showed that' 15 per cent of the
incoming business was on this basls. '
