. At present there are about 10 mem
bers in . the Oregon, State Hotel asso
ciation, including every first class hotel
in the city, but great hopes are held
that this convention will greatly enlarge
tha numbers and influence of tha as
sociation. The object -of the associa
tion Is to make , a united bid for in
creased travel. This Is especially so with
regard .. to tourist travel and tha hotel
of tourists from California and northern
points to Oregon. '
Among the topics which will be dis
missed will be the adoption of uniform
rates for . sample rooms, accommoda
tions and service of a uniform class,
the appointment of a committee to pro
tect the hotfel interests during the pas
sions of the legislature and other mat

uty District Attorney Brownell for per
sons whose testimony is desired tomor
row morning when tha hearing of John
Erlckeon 1 for the alleged murder - of
Olie Johnson will be resumed. It has
developed that Erlckeon was with the
slain man the last time he was seen
alive and that tha two of them made a
trip- to Alderbrook. , where Johnson had
been living, and where his personal to-,
longings were. 'The police are endeav
oring to ascertain where tha effects
are, for there was nothing belonging tt
Johnson in the room over the Bcaiui;
saloon, where he had been stopping, or
at Alderbrook, and the theory Is that
hrf met his death -on the way back from
the upper part of the city.. i ,
