Chehalis Lumber Company to
Rebuild Plant Burned
at Littell.

' Centralis, Wash., Oct. 21. A disas
trous firs broke out at the plant of
the Chehalis Lumber company in Littel
about three -o'clock this morning, and
befors the progress of the flames had
been checked the sawmill division dock
and yards had been completely do
stroyed. Help was wired for both to
Centralis and Chehalis, but owing to
lack of water transportation facilities
It was Impossible to lend aid.
About 100 volunteer fighters with
buckets fought the conflagration, and
after five hours' terrific work, managed
to save the dry kilns, planing mill and
lnmber sheds. The total loss is esti
mated at $25,000 to $60,000, the greater
cart of which is. covered by Insurance,
W. W. Wheeler, of Des Moines, Iowa, Is
president of the company, and Benjamin
Moore la Ideal manager. Mr. Moore
states that the mill will rebuild at once.
