One of the largest and most Important
i municipal projects aver contemplated
by a mayor of this city waa launched
yesterday, when Mayor Kushlight se
cured a six months' option on the prop
erty known as Roes island. By the
terms of the option John Klernan. the
Owner of Rose island and two smaller
islands east and south of it. agrees to
deliver tha entire property to the city
for a cash consideration of $300,000.
Mayor Rushlight's purpose is to make
the main island a hugs park. ' Accord
ing to hla plans, the city will build on
one end- of it a municipal work prison.
