they were intimidated by a policeman
and a lawyer, three foreigners started
suit today in the circuit court against
U A. Plckler and C. C Shaffer to re
cover 1600 damages by reason of being
thrown out of the premises at 93
' Sixth street. The plaintiffs give the
names of S. B. LJhtlca, Dan Ragenovlch
and John Ross. Shaffer is the police
man, and Seneca Fouts is the attorney
whom they accused of Intimidating
them. It is set forth that the three
plaintiffs leased the premises In ques
tion June 12.. They allege Plckler or
dered them to vacate the place June 24.
When they did not move, it la asserted,
that Plckler, Seneca Fouts, and Patrol
man Shaffer cams to the rooma, and
told them that If they did not move,
they would be thrown Into the street

Warren, who was arrested the latter
part of the week for selling liquor and
transporting women down the Columbia
on a barge to Hood River, made his
escape from the city Jail Tuesdery night
He hsd been fined $800 for violating
the law relative to liquor seUlng. He
made his escape from the rear of the
prison through a small window. It Is
presumed that he had a confederate.
