bold up men" were bound over to the
grand Jury by the Justice court here
Monday. They were Richard Brown,
Frank "Ryan and Charles Smith. Their
Offense was robbing Thomas Olson at
Celllo Tuesday night Of late holdups
have been frequent at Celllo, but it has
been difficult to apprehend the robbers.

ent legislature adjourns bills will be

expending $5,000,000 to be collected un
der the Panama-Pacific exposition tax
voted at the recent special session of
the legislature. The bills are being pre
pared by Senator Wolfe of San Fran
cisco. ..
In addition to., this, a measure legal
izing the appointment of a fair commis
sion by the governor and broadly out
lining the state's policy toward the ex
position, will be presented. A state
building and exhibit will be provided
for out of the $5,000,000, and the remain
der of the fund will go to .the fair com
mission to be distributed, as it shall
deem expedient. - '

Forest Grove Is badly in need of a
new school building,, and the proposition
will likely meet with the endorsement
of the majority of the property holders.
Notwithstanding the district now has
two large publio school buildings, the
high school is crowded to its capacity,
and in another year will .be Unable to
meet the growing needs of the city. . -

' To Build Fruit Evaporator.
"Forest Grove, Or., Feb. I. J. N. Hoff
man, an attorney and business man of
this city, will erect a fruit dryer and
evaporator on Council street this spring,
according to present plans. The build
ing will be constructed mainly of cor
rugated iron, will be 50x78 feet, and will
be of three tons capacity. The equip
ment -of the plant will be modern In
every respect, and capable of .handling
all classes of , fruits and vegetables.
A vast amount of fruit goes to waste
every year In this section, owing to
lack of an evaporator, and the new plant
will therefore be a boon to the farmers
and fruit raisers of the western section
of Washington county.
