HOOD RIVER COUNCIL
' HAS STORMY TIME
.' ' (Speedl' Dlptch to To Jutimnl.)
Hood . River, Or.,, Jan.. 26. That the
mayor and some of the councilmen of
Hood River are going to have a rough
voyage through the present administra
tion seems certain. Several of the hold
over councilmen refused to ratify the
major's appointment for city attorney,
and at the last meeting passed an ordi
nance providing for the employment of
Judge Derby as city attorney. Mayor
Hartwig thinks that the city charter
gives him the privilege to appoint the
city attorney, It Is rumored that the
city's interests are to be retarded and
JeoparSlzed on account -of any obstruc
tionists In the council a recall petition
wlil .be circulated at once to deal with
the offenders. ' .
