Tha ChtcVen- situation Is showing an

Ordinary run of fowls Is : selling
around 16c, while better lots sell up to

above this. Hens are extremely scarce
at this time and therefore values are

There Is an entire absence or demand
for turkeys lust now and 'the Indica
tions are that the trade will not want
any for another week.
Notwithstanding statements to th
contrary, the storage plants- have lib
eral supplies ot turkeys lert over rrom
the Thauksglviog trade and these will
be worked off as soon as possible.
Portland Is not the only turkey, mar
ket that refused to move at high prices
this season. , In fact, net returns to
shippers from , here are better than
either in the north or south. There
fore It is to be presumed that this city
will secure Its share of the shipments
for Christmas. ' '

Holidays are responsible tot the
steady sales of the week, which have
averaged better than yesterday's. With
the approach of Christmas, farmers be
lieve there will be a lull in the trading,
and demands will be light Anticipat

T'Money for Christmas"' is also given
as a reason for celling by those who
have, hitherto held tightly to their grain.

it is said, to the need of millers for a

Miller continue to purchase grain on

' "Farmers and dealers look for no ma
