Jennings Bryan, on the train did a very
graceful act for the small nick child
of N. B. Swain Of Glrard. Kan. Mr.
Swain was one of a party of northern
men coming to San Antonio, and on the
same train waa Mr. Bryan. Mr. Bryan
learned that Mr. Swain's young daugh

waa good. . At one of the stations In
Oklahoma a lurge and bt-autiful bouquet
was presented to the former Democratic
candidate for president Mr. -Bryan
wrote a happy little note to the child,

White Salmon, Wash., Nov. 21. In a
light Bulck, H. W. Dby, of the real
estate firm of JDay Bros, of this place,
made a trip of 2188 miles, to Los An
geles, In 10 days of actual running. Mr.
Day had but little experience with ma
chines before this trip, and under the
circumstances bis record Is unusually
good. Mrs. Day accompanied her hus
