Pythian Knlghta in Portland next week. The seaslonof the convention will be held In the splendid cssth) hall of Invan hoe Lodge, No. H, at the corner of Elev enth and Alder streets. The first ses-. slon will open - at 10 o'clock Tuesday 1 morning and the forenoon of -that "day will be devoted to the conferring of the grand lodge rank. The work of the con vention will begin Tuesday afternoon and the grand lodge will probably com- plete its work . by Wednesday night though ; another day's session may be required. Gwlnn of Pendleton. 2; The past year has been & particularly successful one for the order in Oregon and this progress will doubtless be re flected in an enthusiastic convention. The order has grown rapidly and many Oregon lodges have purchased property and built halls. . A remarkably large number of the Pythian lodges now own their own castle balls and the order is one of the strongest financially as well as numerically in the state of Oregon. Seventy-six lodges la Oregon. . According to reports, which will be presented at the coming convention, there are now.?S lodges of the order n Oregon, with a total membership of 6137, with assets as;follows:; Cash on hand, $20,076.88; investments, $57,443.65; other property, $185,658.07. r The lodges of Oregon have expended $15,654,70. for relief la the past fiscal year and the or der throughout the United States paid out during 1909 a total, of $1,710,288.07 for relief of members of the order or their families.. .The assets qf the subor dinate lodges of the ordef throughout , the country have reached the enormous total of $17,528,588.46. In connection with the coming grand lodge session, the Dramatic Order of the Knights of Khorassan will hold , forth in a grand ceremonial session Tuesday night This is the hilarious branch of the order and elaborate preparations are being made for a big - time Tuesday night when a large class of tyros is ex pected to cross the burning sands. A large oil painting entitled "The Bathing Girl" leans against the wall. The painting is five by eight feet, and was taken from a saloon upon a replevin suit The picture was in the saloon of Charles Viator, 490 Washington Btreet Arthur Schuback. fprmer owner Of the saloon, replevined the picture. Schuback sold the saloon to A.. Margullous, who sold It to Viator. - Schuback claims he did not sell the picture. .When he made a aemana lor it, viator refused to give it up The picture will be field three days by the constable .until a-bearing is held to determine the ownership. The painting is an eleborate portrait of a nude girl ready to Jump into the bath ing pool and was painted by William Laporte.
