fice more of the time. This will give
the captain more time to do the work
among his men he hopes to do. The
captain's idea is to make the rounds of
the outsldo patrolmen at least once a
week. He will do this on foot, and
thereby hopes to greatly benefit himself

ent parts of the city need in the way
of patrol duty.
Patrolman Vanovern, who has been on
the first day relief, was shifted to the
second' night relief, and is succeeded by
Inskeep. of the night force.
Patrolman Gill has been detailed to
South Portland, and Vessey' to Lower
Alblna. Patrolman Li 1I1h goes to Ir-vington.
No change was made in the office
force,' and Sergeant Harry Circle re
mains as desk sergeant, with Leo Harms
operator, Martin Gruber as patrol driv
er, and Douglas Leisy as chauffeur.
Chief of Police Cox made a little
visit with his patrolmen last night and
this morning. He started out at mid
night and went from beat to beat, to
further familiarize himself with he
work on the beats. He reports every
one working and well pleased with the
way he found things at this early morn
ing hour.

TO JURY TONIGHT
Olympla, Wash., Dec. 13. By tonight
the Hamilton case will be in the hands
of the Jury as Judge Mitchell gave them
their instructions this morning. The
state refused to accept the offer of
the defense to submit the case without
argument. The defense is now anxious
to get to the Jury and while all was
for delay before, they have changed
