now stated that the pressure is so light
as to fall in raising water to the second
story of dwellings, which again raise
the question of fire protection.

these suburbs will give the matter

Knotts, alleged to have connived with
a number of others ;to procure the fil
ing, of homestead entries upon unal
lotted' Indian lands, and which were
subject to sale under the agreement
between the government and the state
ef Oregon. In every case It Is alleged
that Knotts and Raley were to become
the owners of the realty as --soon as
title should be obtained from the gov
ernment and that these men furnished
the money and proofs whereby final
patents were obtained. It Is anttel
pated that many of the persons who
acted for them as "dummies will be
called by the government as witnesses.

Toronto. Ont, Nov. 9. The executive
council of the American Federation of
Labor today recommended, in Its report
to the convention, that an appeal be
taken to the United States supreme
court from the Jail sentences Imposed
on President Gompera, John Mitchell
and Secretary Morrison In the contempt
charges.
The council also recommended that
Jury trial be demanded In contempt
cases growing out or labor disputes.
The report will be voted on tomorrow
and It Is expected thaFIf will be adopt
ed.
