Waunin. aaed 80 years, at Kelloaa. Ore
gon has loat one of Its oldest and best
known women pioneers. ,
Born In Kentucky. February H. 182
nhe married Garrett - Maupin In 1846.
and in - 1S50 emigrated with, her hus
band to Oregon, crossing the plains in
a prairie schooner drawn by an ox team.
The bride and groom settled upon a
claim a few miles north of what is now
Kugene. In Lane county, and lived there
until 1866, when they'migrated to Doug
las county, settling; on the banks of the
Umpqua river, i
Mr. Maupin died several years ago,
leaving the widow and nine children.
