known the fact that he had requested
Wilbur Wright, the great aviator, to
take him up for a flight If his weight
was not too great for the machine.

Morgan accompanied the military' at

visit to Wrights headquarters. Wilbur
Wright explained his . ship and gave, a
description of its operation. He made

westbound train No. 27 succeeded In
reaching this city last night after the
mail and baggage cars with their en
tire contents had been burned. The
remaining cars were saved with diffi
culty. No one was seriously burned
but the mall agent was compelled to
life. Sparks from the locomotive are
supposed to have caused the fire,
large quantity of mall waa lost.

the laws have not been questioned un

of dynamite near -the Cathedral of St.
Peter at Rome today injured 20 Dersons
and destroyed a-portion of the Borgio
p&iace, acooraing'-to a-Duiietin received
by the Exchange Telegraph concern.
The explosion is said to have shaken the
foundation of the great cathedral. The
explosion, was due to the improper stor

the wire clothesline in the vard of
an unoccupied house, John Winkler, a
German laborer, was discovered yester
day. He had been dead for several
hours and had left nothing in his pock
ets by which identification further
than his name could be- established.
Winkler tied the unused end of the wire
clothesline about his neck anil allowed
his body to hang suspended from the
poie.

been let to H. T. Wentworth. The
building Is to be located at First

orchard formerly owned by Consul-General
H., B. Miller, was totally destroyed
by fire. The , house burned Just after
dinner. it is not known how the fire
originated. , The "Miller Ranch," as It
caned, is located on Appiegate river,
miles from Grants Pass. For a num
ber of Tears Hon. H. B. Miller made It
his home, v It was later sold to Boston
