Sacramento; Jan. 22.--The assembly
yesterday passed the Otis anti-race
track gambling bill by a vote of 66 to
10. Grove L. Johnson of Sacramento
moved- to reconsider the bill. '
There was no vote on the anti
race track gambling bill in the senate.
An attempt to call the bill from the
committee on public morals met with
opposition, resulting in an agreement
that the committee report out the bill
next Thursday.

WEATHER REPORT
The Oregon storm has advanced east
to Montana. Notwithstanding the low
barometer the winds along the coast
were not dangerously high, but maxi
mum velocities ranging from 25 to 42
miles occurred at a number of stations
In the Interior of this district, and the
winds have been unusually high in Cali
fornia and Nevada. Heavy rains have
fallen In southern California, and heavy
snow is reported In Nevada, northern
Utah and southern Idaho. The rains in
the Willamette valley and the sound
country have practically ceased, and It
is much colder nearly everywhere on
the Pacific slope.

by fair weather Saturday east of the
