The river was at the 11 foot stage
this forenoon, and is coming up at a
rapid late. It Is out of the banks in

porarily losing his mind from the
shock of ' having his life savjngs de
stroyed by fire, Malin Lorenzo sus
tained another shock today when the
money he supposed was lost was band
ed to him. ,
Lorenzo was so overcome with Joy
that he refused to prosecute his 17 year
old son, Frank, who took tha money, but
merely ordered him to leave home.
Lorenzo had made an old wooden gun
rack the hiding place of a thousand
dollars in currency. Frank burned the
gun rack yesterday and the old man,
in fury, beat tha youth insensible.
jLiorenzo tooay suspected eometning
wrong and finally forced his son to ad
mit that tha money waa not destroyed
and later compelled the lad to dig it
up from Its hiding place under the
barn.
Deputy Sheriff Vooram, who went to
Tomalei to arrest the father for as
sault. returned today without a pris
oner because of Lorenzo's refusal to
prosecute for theft.
