Fruitgrowers' and Produce association,
an organisation of eastern Multnomah
county farmers and fruitgrowers, will
hold a meeting here this afternoon and
evening. A number of prominent speak
ers will ba present, among them being

record of making more than one farm
ers' organization a suceess. The after
noon meeting will be in charge of Mr.

'The evening meeting will be one of
general 'discussion. .
The association, although only several
months old, has already done much to
oettor the condition of the farmers. It
, intends to take care of the-production
of all the foodstuffs of its members in
this county. It is also the intention to
develop the fruit producing lands; and
to produce goods of such a high stan-
. dard that they will command the' high
est market orlce. It will be necessary
' for every member to ship his products
mrougn a local clearing nouse, at wntcn
place it will be inspected, graded and
'. disposed Of. ' '
From the present outlook more straw
berries wlH be shipped from this point
this year than ever before and the qual
ity will be much better. It is generally
believed that the land in this section
of the county produces premier straw
berries; that it will be but a short time
until Troutdale will be as famous for
its ; strawberries as neighboring terri
tories are for their apples.
Troutdale potatoes have been com
manding the highent market price this
year, notwithstanding the fact that the
production was double that of last year.

I George L. Hutchin, manager of the
Rose festival, will be present and so
will Tom Richardson of the Commercial,
both of whom will address the gather
ing. Mr. Hutchin is to speak on mat
ters pertaining to the Rose Festival and
Mr. Riohardson will talk for the up
building of Cast Portland.
The entertainment will begin at 8
O'clock and the members are all invited
to come and bring their wives or sweet

WEATHER REPORT
Another storm of considerable energy
has appeared off the southern Oregon
coast, and northeast storm warnings
were displayed at all stations in this
district at 7:30 a. m. A strong high
barometer area is central over Montana,
causing a severe cold wave In that
state, the Dakotas and Minnesota,. It
Is also decidedly colder this morning
over this district, excepting in south
ern Oregon and southern Idaho. Heavy
rain has occurred in southwestern Ore
gon, and light snow has fallen in the
sound country, Montana and the Da
kotas. The indications are for occasional
snow tonight and the Dakotas, western
Washington, northern and eastern Ore
gon and southern Idaho. Rain will' con
tinue in southwestern Oregon. . It will
be colder throughout - the district ex
cept In western Washington and south
western Oregon. A cold wave will oc
cur in northern Idaho.
