who looted. box car of nearly all Its
merchandise last nignt aid not carry

The stolen foods, which are valued at
approximately $1000 were thrown from
the car while It was en route from
heattle to Tacoma, In freight tram No,
fib last night. When the train arrived
here it was discovered that about three
fourths of the contents of the car, in
cluding 60 large boxes of shoes shipped
oy a Beattie xirm. ana mucn otner vat
uable merchandise: was missing.
Ten pairs of loggers' shoes and five
quart bottles of whiskey were found
in the outer freight yards here early
this morning,, the robbers evidently
dropping them in their haste to escape.

urday morning all Northern Pacific
trains between Portland' and the Puget
sound cities and also eastern points will
run through Vancouver.' When the
Northern Pacific overland trains pull
into the Vancouver station and steam
on through town, Vancouver will have
seen the passage of her first transcon
tinental train.
The temporary schedule will call for
three trains daily each way aside from
the two dully trains over, the North
Bank line that -are now in -operation.
Following will be the" " ftitving and ar
riving time from me Vancouver depot
a. m., 2:36 p. m. and 12:20 a. m.; arriv
ing from the north and east at 0:26 m.
m 3:40 p. m. and 8 p. m. These trains
are all Northern Pacific and will arrive
at and depart from the Union depot in
Portland.
The North Bank trains will continue
to use the Eleventh and Hoyt street
depot.
it will be noticed that under the
new schedule Vancouver residents can
return home on Monday nights. Be
cause of tho failure of the Vancouver
ferry to make the late trips on Mon
day, it has always been necessary for
Vancouver people to remain over night
in the Oregon metropolis should they
desire to attend a place of amusement

WEATHER REPORT
The Pacific disturbance is now cen
tral over British Columbia. It has
caused light to moderately heavy rains
in western orejron ana western wash
Ington, and light snow lit eastern Ore
gon, eastern Washington and Idaho.
The winds attending this disturbance
nave not as yet Dean nign at the land
stations along the coast. The south
Atlantic low pressure area lias disaD'
peared, and a ridge of high pressure
now extends rrom trie upper St. Law
rence vallev southwestward to Texas.
The barometer continues relatively high
over Wyoming ana western Colorado,
end a new high presmire area has
formed over central California. It is
warmer In nearly all the nothern states
from the Pacific ocean east to the upper
lake .region, and decidedly warmer in
eastern Colorado and Kansas. The tem
peratures have fallen In the Atlantic
states and In southern California. A
heavy frost was reported this morning
at Los .Angeles.
The indications are for rain tonight
and Thursday In western Oregon and
western' Washington and for rain or
snow and warmer weather tonight and
Thursday east of the Cascade moun
tains. A moderate westerly gale will
Srevail this afternoon and tonight along
ie coast.
