Sealed proposals for drugs, dry goods,
groceries, butter U.ather and findings,
hardware, flour and meat will be re

ent of the State Penitentiary until Mon
day, December 21, at 2 o'clock p. m , at
which time they will be publicly opened.
A deposit of $200 .in cash or certified
check, made payable to the superintend
ent must accompany each bid for meat
and flour, and all ether bids must be
accompanied by an amount equal to 10
per cent of the amount of the bid.
Samples must accompany all bids

lum, and goods must be In accordance
therewith. Where samples are required
and not furnished by bidders, the ar
ticles must be equal to samples to be
seen at the asylum, and the bids will
be assumed, to have been made on basis
of samples. All goods must be in strict
accordance with sample In original pack
age when possible and delivered at the
State Insane Asylum within 20 days
after contract Is awarded, and bids must
De in oiank form, which will be fur
nished together with instructions to bid
ders by the clerk, upon application.
Each bid on flour or meat must be ac
companied by a certified check for $300,
and each bid on fish by a certified
check of $76, and all other bids by cer
tified checks equal to 10 per cent of
the amount of the bid; checks of unsuc
cessful bidders to he returned immedi
ately, and those accepted when the con
tract is completed. Bids must be in
closed in sealed envelopes and directed
to the board, care of the clerk, and
plainly marked, "Bids for Asylum Sup
plies,' and the class of goods should
also be Inscribed on the envelope. Price,
fitness and quality being equal, prefer
ence will be given to articles manufac
tured, grown or produced in this state.
When a particular article is specifically
called for, bids for other kind, or man
ufacture, or brand equally as good will
be entertained, but to insure recogni
tion of such bids, samples of the ar
ticles it is proposed to supply must ac
company them. The board reserves tho
right to reject any or all bids, or to ac
cept or reject any part of a bid. Bids
will be opened at the capitol at Salem,
at 10 a. m. Monday, December 21, 1908.
