"Bees," have been found forged notes
which the police of this city say will
go far toward clinching a felony charge
against the cripple. Smith was ar-

leged that his name had been forged
to a note for $680. . Smith was brought
to this city today.
. Cannon's attention was first directed
to the forgery by-a bank, which re
fused to honor the paper when It was
presented by Gerhard Opp, a town

WEATHER REPORT
A new high pressure area has made
its appearance over the north Pacific
states, and the rains on the Pacific
slope have practically ceased. The Brit
ish Columbia disturbance has advanced
east to Manitoba, and the California dis
turbance has crossed the Rocky moun
tains In Colorado, and It now consists
of a shallow area of low pressure ex
tending from the Texas panhandle north
to the disturbance overlying Manitoba.
The Mississippi valley high pressure
srea now overlies the Atlantic states.
Light rain fell yeaterday afternoon in
southern California, and light snow has
fallen at scattered places In eastern
Oregon and eastern Washington, and
light rain has occurred In the low val
leys la Idaho. Heavy rain has fallen In
southern Texas, but elsewhere east of
the Rocky mountains fair weather gen
erally prevails. It Is much colder In
New England and the middle Atlantic
states, and generally warmer In the west
gulf states and also in the Dakotas.

lightly colder weather In this -district
