dow on the second floor. The thief
managed to scale a wall at the front of
the house and entered while the family
were at dinner.
The room of Mrs. Britton was thor
oughly ransacked. Among the ar
ticles taken were diamond earrings,
valued at 100; necklace. $500: pendant,
$300; Chinese Jades, $300 family heir
looms, ivvu.
The thief left no clue.

Mrs. Millie nam staggered into a sa
loon near her home early today. Her
hands were bound behind her back and
a gag was tied firmly over her mouth.

rescuers that two men had entered her
house shortly before midnight last
night. One of them struck her on the
head. After regaining consciousness
she discovered that she was bound,
hand and foot, and unable to make an
outcry. After several minutes of tug
glng she managed to free her feet and
set aid.
Mrs. Harris' rescuers rushed to her
home and found that It had been ran
sacked. After her wound was dressed
Mrs. -Harris learned that a purse con
taining $50. and $200 worth of furs, had
been taken by Her assailants.

Grass Valley, Cal., Dec. 9. A reward
of $600 was posted today for informa
tion leading to the discovery of gold
precipitates stolen from the North Star
mine in this city on October 28. At
that time the treasure taken was vari
ously estimated from $3000 to $30,000.
The recovery of the gold Is declared in
the posters to be "very important."
