Asylum hereby invites sealed proposals
for furnishing (Tie rollowing supplies to
the institution for the six months end
ing June 30, 1909: Groceries, mill feed
and flour, meats and fish, dry goods,
drugs, stationery, leather and findings,
paints and oils shoes, plumbing, hard
ware, tinning, crockery and glassware.
Lists of said supplies will be furnished
by the clerk of the board upon applica
tion. Samoles can be seen at the asy-
i lum, and goods must be In accordance
tnerewitn. Where samples are required

ticles must be equal to samples to be
seen at the asylum, and the bids will
be assumed to have been made on basis
of samples. All goods must be in strict
accordance with sample in original pack
age when possible and delivered at the
State Insane Asylum within 20 days
after contract is awarded, and bids must
be in blank form, which will be fur
nished together with instructions to bid
ders hy the clerk, upon application.
Each bid on flour or meat must be ac
companied bv a certified check for $300.
and each bid on fish by a certified
check of $75, and all other bids by cer
tified checks equal to 10 per cent of
the amount of the bid; checks of unsuc
cessful bidders to be returned immedi
ately, and those accepted when the con
tract Is completed. Bids must be In
closed In sealed envelopes and directed
to the board, care of the clerk, and
plainly marked, "Bids for Asylum Sup
plies, and the class of goods should
also be Inscribed on the envelope. Price,
fitness and quality being equal, prefer
ence will be given to articles manufac
tured, grown or produced in this state.
When a particular article Is specifically
called for, bids for. other kind, or man
ufacture, or brand equally as good will
be entertained, but to lnsupe recogni
tion of such bids, samples of the ar
ticles It is proposed to supply must ac
company them. The board reserves the
right to reject any or all bids, or to ac
cept or reject any part of a bid. Bids

ent of the State Penitentiary until Mon
day, December 21, at 2 o'clock p. m., at
which time they will be publicly opened.
A deposit of $200 In caBh or certified
check, made payable to the superintend
ent, must accompany each bid for meat
and flour, and all other bids must be
accompanied by an amount equal to 10
per cent of the amount of the bid.
Samples mnst accompany all bids
where practicable. The right Is re

to accept or reject any portion of a bid.
