THIS IS WORTH READING,' SO TAKE A LITTLE TIME AND READ
EVERY WORD OF IT
You read the newspapers therefore you already know of the coming of Swift
& Co. to the Peninsula of Portland. You probably do not realize what 1t really
means We will tell you. It means, the building of a city, of from 15,000 to 25,000
people on and around their townsite, known c as Kenton. Fifteen to twenty-five
thousand people means big prices for real estate in that locality. SWINTON is lo
cated right in the heart of it. You should be able to figure from the .bove what lots
will be worth in SWINTON in a couple of years from now. If you are wise you
will buy just as many lots in SWINTON as you can carry. There are several rea
sons for not delaying, the best of which is that -in a couple more weeks there will
be no lots left to buy. Then you will be sore at yourself because you didn't take
this tip. ,
' The first plat of SWINTON contained a little over 600 lots, and was put on the
market about eight . weeks ago. It was sold out in six weeks. About two weeks
ago we opened a second tract of SWINTON containing 400 lots, and less than half
of them now remain unsold. See how they are going? The reason is that some of
the best investors in Portland have visited SWINTON and readily see what a gold
en opportunity it is, nd in many cases have bought, whole blocks.
The prices in SWINTON are lower than any other property in that locality, tak
ing everything into consideration. We have cleaned all the brush off the lots, the
streets are being graded, Bull Run water is being piped to each lot, and all being
paid for by this company. You have none of it to pay for. Last, but not least.
SWttK
Is the Only Restricted Tract in That Whole Locality
" - . " . '
It having a $1500"T)uiIding restriction, therefore will contain the cream of the popu
lation of this new town being created by Swift. There wiU be no shacks in SWIN
TON, which means a big increase in values. . ,
SPECIAL DISCOUNT
.J For a short time we are offering a 10 per cent discount off the purchase price of
lots In .SWINTON, owing to the fact that we have not been able to improve it as
fast as we are selling it. An extra 5 per cent discount will be given if you wish to
pay cash. Terms 10 per cent down and 2 per cent a month if you rather, which
gives you a chance to speculate with our money. Do you ever expect to get a bet
ter opportunity to make easy money?

Boys and Girls Up in Arms
.Over "Moral Vigilance" ,
: of New Censor.
:' (Hearst Nw bjr IxmrMt teased Wire.)
London, Deo. 5. The students of
Glasgow university both boys and
girls Mtre tip In arms against an antl
fllrting campaign . waged against them
by "prudes on the' prowl."
The solemn senate of the university
has been pained tot- observe that when
students of opposite sexes meet their
discourse is . not always, confined to
mathematical problems, scientific the
ories, or the aphorisms of Plato. A
censor of morals has. therefore, been
appointed the sternest, most mature
and most forbidding of lady lecturers.
So effective was her "moral" vigi
lance that for days - none of the boys
dare 940 speak to a girl student on the
university grounds.
At all the universities In the United
Kingdom women are now admitted to
practically all the lectures which are at
tended by the men. but there has never
been any need of a specially appointed
censor to keep Watch and ward over
their dally Intercourse with each other.
At Oxford and Cambridge the lady
undergraduates from Somerville. Lady
Margaret, Glrton, Newnham. or the
other ladies' colleges are almost invari
ably accompanied by a chaperon, who
keeps a watchful eye on her pupils dur
ing the lectures. But at the non-residential
universities the women have
hitherto been regarded as quite able to
take care of "themselves.
"There have been occasional harmless
flirtations. I admit." said a woman stu
dent at University college, London, "but
on the whole the men and women look
upon each other merely as good pals. If
they are friendly at all.
"Under present circumstances. I know
of no case in which any girl has had
to be taken to task for flirting, say,
with the men students, and I do know
of many firm friendships, and at least
two marriages, which have resulted
from our coeducation system."

THESE ARE THE FACTS
ABOUT BASE LINE
ACRES
INTERESTING INFORMATION ABOUT A
SUBURBAN HOME WITHIN THIRTY
FIVE MINUTES FROM THE
RETAIL DISTRICT
THE PLACE FOR YOU TO LIVE
BASE LINE ACRES is just-cast of Mount
Tabor, on the Base Line road, nine miles from the
courthouse. This is the finest good road in the
state. BASE LINE ACRES is crossed, east and
west, by the Mount Hood Railway, which will be
running its cars through to the city within six
months. Thi will bring the property within 35
minutes of the retail district. This road is already
constructed almost to the east line of BASE LINE
ACRES, and the work is progressing rapidly By
the time the line is in. operation, it will be utterly
impossible to; tmy BASE LINE ACRES at any
where near the present low prices. Churches,
schools, stores and all necessary improvements are
present.
Many a man has sought long and anxiously for
a small tract of land where he could build a home,
cultivate a garden and fruit trees, keep a cow and
horse and still partake of the advantages of city
life. It is fortunate that this company was able to
select so delightful a piece of land, with such splen
did soil, for platting into suburban home property.
BASE LINE ACRES is not a high priced piece
of acreage, similar to many others that have been
put on the market as a job lot proposition. It was "
carefully selected with the suburban idea in mind.
It is just such a location as any business man would
willingly recommend to any close friend. It is a
place eminently suitable for fine homes. In spite
of all its many excellent features, BASE .LINE
ACRES is for sale at ridiculously low prices. In
fact, the prices are so low ranging from $225 to
$350 per acre that a couple or three acres may
i
be purchased for a great deal less than a couple
or three lots- 50x100 feet within the city limits.
Unusually easy . terms will be arranged and a very
small first payment accepted.
It is a very conservative statement to make
when we say that BASE LINE ACRES will be
selling for double present prices within six months.
We know that the present prices will not last
longer than three months more.
We suggest that you satisfy yourself of the
truthfulness of our statements and call at the of
fice. We will take you out to the property in our
automobile, show it to you and know that you will
be impressed with it. Have you read our unique
little folder, "THE MAN OF TOMORROW"?
Call at the office any day and we will be glad to
give you one. All we ask you to remember is that
BASE LINE ACRES is a great deal more inter
esting than you think.
