Arrest Oregon City Man Who
Carried Out Mock High
way Robbery.
"I've got you where I want you now.
Put up your hands," and Jack Horn
leveled his forefinger at Lester, Charles
and Heary Nelson In a dark place on
the Burnslde street bridge last night.
Thru nnira of hands went un DromDtly
in obedience to the command and the
threat of the pointed linger.
"Put im vour own hands." was the
harp command that followed, and a
real revolver in the grasp of Police Ser
geant Golts was shoved into the stick-
up's face. His nanas went up as rap
idly as had those of his intended vic
tims. The three hovs. laborers in a cement
factory, were crossing the Burnslde
street bridge aoout iz:iu ibsi nmin,
when one of them suddenly felt that
some one was following them. He
looked back and saw a man slipping si
lently alonir In the shadows near the
rail, evidently following them. Seeing
that he wag discovered, ana sibo inai
the three had reached a dark place on
the bridge, he stepped up and witn
leveled forefinger, that they in the dark
ness took to be a pointed revolver, gave
them th holclun signal.
While the' four were standing there
In that melodramatic attitude, three of
them with their hands held high over
their beads, and the fourth pointing an
imaginary gun at them, a streetcar
passed. Sergeant Golts was on the car
ana saw. ins laoieau. -my uou, mere
a holdup," he-exclaimed: f'stop the car,"
and he iwuni off. I'Now. go on with
tha car," he roared, and ran back to
where the holdup and his prospective
victims wers standing. Seeing him
cominr. the robber dropped his out
stretched arni and crowded In among
the boys to try to make it appear that
he was one of them. But Golts com
manded him to assume the same attitude
that the boys had maintained.
Meantime the car had stopped again,
and Patrolman Potter, who also was
aboard, sprang off and ran back to
help Golts. The two officers Started
him toward the police station. This
didnt suit him, and he tried to put up
a fight, but a little moral suasion ad
ministered with a night stick induced
him -to change his mind.
This moraine Jack Horn, as he says
his name is, was repentant. He claims
that he was drunk and does not remem
ber anything about his adventures of
last nignt. He claims to De a otacK
smlth from Oregon City, and says lie
was never In trouble before. He is
charged with assault with Intent to
rob, but tne ract mat ne naa no gun on
him when arrested makes the case a dif
ficult one, especially as he did not ask
tne men he stuck up Tor their money.

Fremier Acrobats.
One of the excellent features of the
Pantages program Is the act of Hanlon
& Clifton, hand to hand and head to
head balancers. It Is hard to- do jus
tice to this act without seeming to ex
aggerate. They work with such agility
and quickness that they discount their
feats by making them appear eusy to
the unpractlced eye.
Gehan and Spencer at Orpheum.
'Gehan and Spencer, the .two youthful
dancers, who are appearing at the Or
pheum this week, were several years
ago associated with eastern musical
plays, and by constantly dancing to
gether they have attained a precision
and uniformity in their work that Is
little short of marvelous. Their solo
dances are unique, and their eccentric
steps new and novel.
Hunting Crocodiles.
There is a motion picture at the
Grand this week which is worth spe
cial attention. It is a series of motion
pictures taken of a crocodile hunt In
Africa. The feature of the perform

electricity by Carl Herman, who has an
act unique, educatlon.1 and amusing
every minute. This is an act which has
been the talk of the town since Monday.
Salome Coming.
Mile. Joyce Grey, the famous Salome
dancer from Paris, will be the head
liner next week at the Grand. This is
her first appearance in the west and
it will be the first appearance of a
genuine Salome dancer. The special
added attraction will be Harry Luken's
seven trained Teddy bears.

A SECRET
FOR WOMEN
Tells How Ugly Deformed
Women Become Superb
of Figure.
The treatment consists of ap
plying a powerful, harmless nervine-stimulant
direct to the cells
of the skin, to be absorbed and
utilized to create nourishment of
flesh and tissue growth. The
most beautiful changes are
wrought; ugly, deformed women
with scrawny neck, arms and
limbs, with no bust development
at all visible, are quickly trans
formed into charming person
ages with well rounded arms
and heck, full, normal bust of
exquisite curve and proportion,
and shapely figure so much ad
mired in our great actresses and
society leaders, and so attractive
to the other sex always.
Obtain the ingredients sepa
rately at any good drug store,
and mix carefully at home. Get
two ounces , of glycerine, three
ounces of rosewater, one ounce
tincture cadomene compound
and 6 cents' worth of borax. Mix
the glycerine with tincture cad
omene and let stand two hours;
then idd rosewater and a tea
spoonful of borax. Apply morn
ing and night, rubbing It in thor
oughly. Then wash with hot
water and soap, and dry. It Is
related that one woman developed
a figure that won for her a very,
very wealthy husband.

that custom. When casket is furnished
