FOR LA ROSE APPEAL
Through the sympathy felt
for him by certain members of
the Daughters of the Confeder-
acy and by women members of
the Baptist church. Jack La Ross
will be able to appeal to the su- 4
4 preme court from the verdict of
the jury that found htm guilty

sentenced by Judge Morrow to
serve the remainder of his 'life

the announcement that the funds

About $100 will be required. He

. to his. story, he is from Georgia.
As for the Baptist women, they

, cause of religious motives, ex-
cept they hope that La- Rose

changed man if he la not sent to
the penitentiary for life. , They

KLAMATH MEN SEND
MORE BUSINESS HERE
From having only 10 per cent of the
trade with Klamath Falls. Portland has
Jumped in the past year to where she
enjoys from 25 to SO per cent, according
to a letter that Frank Ira White has
written Tom Richardson of the Port
land commercial club. Mr. White states
that the people of Klamath county are
Dsclallv anxious to rive Portland the
big end of their trade over San Fran
cisco, and believes if Portland whole-'
salers would onl- send their representa
tives and make a strong fight for the
territory this year that Ban Francisco
will be unable to compete with her. The
construction of the new wagon road
which the - people of southern Oregon
want built through Klamath county to
the California line and east through
Lake county to the Idaho line, will, it is
believed, not only greatly develop the
southern part of the state, but asjtnt

TITLE TO LAUD
Alleging that Frederick . Proebstel Is
seeking to ; defraud , the estate - of the
late Miles Standlsh Qrls'wold and to
eloud the title to property that must
be sold to aettle up-the estate,' David
Goodsell, the' administrator,, has begun
suit in the circuit court to set aside a
grass on October 8, which was 'recorded
tna roiiowing aay.
The history of the affair goes back
60 years, the land in question being a
part of the Frederick Proebstel dona
tion land claim, over wnicti another suit
in the circuit court recently caused con
sitleiable stir, threatening ss It did the
title to several acres of land in the
cltv limits on the east side. Goodsell
alleges that Proebstel deeded the lot in
question to Wendel Proebstel 60 years
ago, but that a mutual mistake was
made in the description. For this rea
son trie records in tne county cieras
office do not show a conveyance of thii
lot to Wendel Proebstel, although an
evident attempt to describe it was
made.
The administrator of Grlswold s es
tate, suing for the heirs, says he has
secured authority from the county court
to sell the lot. but cannot do so be
cause of the cloud on tne title. The con
veyance from Frederick Proebstel to
Snort grass, he alleges, was without con
sideration, although $1,000 Is named as
the price in tne deed. He asserts that
the transaction with Snodgrasa is sole
ly for the purpose of compelling the
Grlswold heirs to pay Proebstel and
his wife for a quit claim deed to re
move the cloud.
Goodsell asks that the deed to Snod
grasa he cancelled, that Proebstel be
reoulred to srlve a confirmatory deed.
and that Snodgrasa be restrained from
making, a further conveyance of the
property to the hands of innocent purchasers.
